Everybody has preferences, but sometimes it is good to challenge oneself by tasting unfamiliar types of beer, or perhaps revisit some of the classics, as this may lead to a surprising discovery of new favourites.
We asked our two head bartenders to tell us which beers they prefer, and even they find it difficult to choose.

"My favourite beer is the Jacobsen Extra Pilsner because it is a rather bitter beer, and the Nordic ingredient “Sea buck thorn” adds a nice and complex, fresh flavour to the beer.
I also like the darker beers, such as Jacobsen Original Dark Lager or Jacobsen Brown Ale, because the malt adds roasted, smoked, and sweet flavours among others to the beer. All these flavours go well with practically all types of meat.
When I go out, I tend to drink Tuborg Gold, which is stronger than Tuborg Green, thus having a bit more flavour.
In addition, I quite like the Carlsberg Elephant beer, because it balances bitterness and sweetness extremely well.
In my opinion, the Carlsberg Pilsner is the perfect pilsner, because it is extremely clean in its taste, and I compare all other light coloured lager beers to it."

"It would actually be easier to tell you which beers I dislike because I do like most beers. Otherwise, why would I work here?". But if I have to choose, it would depend on my mood and the situation. For instance, on a lazy afternoon watching football with my friends, I would usually prefer a Tuborg pilsner, because it is light, crisp, and therefore, easy to drink. If everything goes as planned for the team, I am rooting for, I usually upgrade to Tuborg Gold, which is slightly sweeter due to the higher alcohol content, but still have a distinct hint of bitterness from the hops.
Before I know it, I may be out celebrating and drinking Fine Festival which in my humble opinion is "probably the best beer in the world".
However, when having dinner with friends and family, I generally choose beer with a lot of body. With heavier dishes like roasted meat or pork, I generally like darker beers such as Original Dark lager or Brown Ale both from the Jacobsen Brewhouse.
For light or spicy dishes, I prefer the Jacobsen Extra Pilsner any day. The bitterness of the Extra Pilsner is a good contrast and complements the spicy dishes well.
For dessert I prefer anything with chocolate, and I find a stout, like Carl's Porter, an excellent choice with chocolate desserts because I really like the combination of chocolate and roasted malt."
Both Christian Sonne-Schmidt and Karsten Damgaard Kristensen have worked at Carlsberg for more than 7 years, and they have been head bartenders in the Jacobsen Bar since it opened in the Summer of 2005.

"My favourite beer is the Jacobsen Saaz Blonde, because of its sweetness and fruity character. The Saaz hops and the angelica root makes it appear differently from most other blonde types. It has a unique full-bodied taste which is only found in very few beers. The strong taste and alcohol, it’s a beer to be enjoyed only in small amounts, in my opinion. It goes well together with cheese and other tasteful dishes.
When I am out having a good time with friends, I prefer the Tuborg Gold and Tuborg Classic as they are easier to drink, but still have a nice round taste".
